Advanced Conversion Technology (ACT) is proud to be an emerging leader in the field of ground vehicle power supply. Though our focus has historically been on aerospace and shipboard electronics, we have started applying our expertise to the development of power supplies for ground vehicles that conform to MIL-STD-1275 standards.

Our Facility

Our 63,000 square foot, vertically-integrated facility in Middletown, PA is the key to our advanced production capabilities. From there, we can control all aspects of the production and development cycles, resulting in a final product that is cheaper, faster to produce, and subject to higher levels of quality control than power supplies manufactured overseas. Vertical integration also gives us greater flexibility to accommodate rush or custom orders, as we can prioritize production requirements more effectively.

Our quality management system is certified to AS9100 Rev D and ISO9001:2015. A full-time inspection team performs multiple QC checks on each piece of hardware we deliver, ensuring we meet the demanding requirements of our defense industry customers.

Ground Vehicle Power Supply

Developing reliable power supplies for military ground vehicles and equipment presents various challenges that require precision-engineered solutions. Unlike air or naval platforms, ground vehicles are frequently deployed in dusty, humid or sandy conditions — anticipating these environmental concerns is essential in the design of any power supply. Hardware must also be able to withstand the bumps and shocks associated with travel in rough terrain.

At ACT, our ground vehicle power supply products can be mounted in a ruggedized frame to protect them from damage. We also offer hermetically-sealed modules that keep out dust particles and keep your equipment safe at any temperature or humidity level.

Meeting MIL-STD-1275 Power Supply Requirements

MIL-STD-1275 power supply standards outline requirements for any military ground vehicle power supply. They can also be useful to civilian manufacturers of off-road vehicles and heavy equipment. Military vehicles employ a nominal 28 V power supply system and much of MIL-STD-1275 requires ensuring these systems are able to handle transient spikes and surges.

According to official Rev. B of the guidelines, transients must not exceed spikes of ±250 V 50 µs for 1 ms duration, with a maximum energy content of 15 mJ per spike. Surges must also be less than 100 V for 50 ms from a 0.5 ? source impedance, and cannot be repeated more than 5 times each second.
