Quality Assurance
A. General
ACT's Quality Assurance System is configured to the requirements of
ISO 9001:1994 and has been certified to MIL-I-45208. This department embraces all of the
Quality Assurance functions, including inspection, qualification testing, process control,
final testing, source inspection, training and calibration of instruments. The Manager of
Quality Assurance reports directly to ACT's President. Quality Assurance is involved with
prototypes as well as production units, and is part of the "project team". ACT's
Quality Assurance system is defined in the Advanced Conversion Technology Quality
Assurance Manual. In accordance with this manual, all production and most prototype units
are controlled with a "Traveler" system. All testing on deliverable hardware is
100% or in accordance with the approved acceptance test procedures. Basic workmanship is
per MIL-HDBK-454 as a minimum (ACT is certified to IPC/EIA J-STD-001D and was formerly
certified to MIL-STD-2000 and WS6536).
B. Inspection
Full time inspectors are employed to insure that the products we
deliver meet our customer's most demanding requirements. Product is typically inspected
four times during the production cycle - as a fabricated part - as a loaded PWB - as a
module - and finally as a completed assembly. All units must be signed off by Q.A. prior
to shipping and all incoming parts are received by an inspector.
C. Instrumentation
Quality Assurance is responsible for the maintenance and periodic
calibration of the electrical test equipment and mechanical gauges in accordance with
MIL-STD-45662A. They maintain logs to insure that all certifiable instruments are
currently in calibration. Non-calibrated devices are clearly marked. ACT employs a
Calibration Metrologist whose sole responsibility is instrumentation and ESD control.
D. Training
All assembly personnel, as well as technical personnel, are put
through a formal training course. This training consists of 40 hours of concentrated
instruction for new hires, and is conducted by IPC certified instructors. In addition,
continuous quality, workmanship, and safety are conducted.
